Join us for Country Christmas on December 7, 2013

We're celebrating the holidays at Abode Gallery. Join us for our Country Christmas event this Saturday, December 7. You'll find exquisite decor items, as well as locally crafted and unique art, music and jewelry. You're sure to find the perfect gift for nearly everyone on your list (and maybe an item or two for yourself).

Consider this your sneak peek...

Here's what's in store for you at Abode Gallery's Country Christmas event.

We'll also be welcoming some special guests that day... Richard Erickson, the talented artist behind our amazing granite wine racks and candles, will be in the Gallery meeting visitors, as will Lucy Elliot, local jewelry designer.

Mary Logue, author and poet, will be signing her books for Gallery visitors. We have several of her titles in stock, including her latest book of poetry, Trees, and her children’s book, Sleep like a Tiger, which holds the #1 spot on Apartment Therapy’s “20 Most Beautiful Children’s Books” list.

In addition, The DitchLillies will be performing holiday music as only they can (from 12-3pm). Go ahead and tap your toe; you won't be able to resist!

Plan to spend the entire day in the area; there’s plenty to do along the Great River Road during West Coast of Wisconsin’s “Coastal Christmas”, which is also taking place on December 7. Find the details here.

New at Abode Gallery... Driftless: An Exhibition

Abode Gallery is proud to present our newest group show: "Driftless".

Diftless: An Exhibition
Now thru September 30th
Opening Reception: Aug 23rd., 5- 7pm
Abode Gallery, Stockholm, WI

The Driftless area of the upper Mississippi River Basin is a unique region with a landscape steeped in beauty. The area was bypassed by the last continental glacier, and as a result, natural weathering and erosion created steep, rugged, and breathtakingly beautiful topography.

"Driftless" depicts this distinctive sculpted landscape in paint, ceramic, metal and wood. The show highlights unique bluffs, forested hillsides, farmed countryside and cold-water trout streams.

New works from 7 local and regional artists, whose names you will surely recognize, will be featured:

Margy Jean Balwierz
Maria Dudley Kowalski
Robert Gehrke
Terrill Knaack
Denise Presnell Weidner
Dianna Shandorf
Jeff Stern

YOU'RE INVITED...

Join us for our opening reception on Friday, August 23, 2013, from 5-7pm. View the collection, meet and greet the artists, and enjoy refreshments and live music. The event is free and open to the public. Artists in attendance will include: Maria Dudley Kowalski, Robert Gehrke, Terrill Knaack and Jeff Stern.

Announcements about the exhibition and opening reception will also be announced on our Facebook page.

Abode Gallery Great River Road Exhibition Featuring Raelee Edgar

Artist Raelee Edgar at work in her studio.
Calling all art-lovers, classic car buffs and Great River Road enthusiasts... Join us as we celebrate travel and nostalgia of the open road!

The Great River Road Exhibition
Featuring the original works of Raelee Edgar
June 13 - July 31, 2013

OPENING RECEPTION
Saturday, June 15, 2013
4:30pm - 6:30pm

The State of Wisconsin proclaimed 2013 as the 75th anniversary of the Wisconsin Great River Road. Highway 35, Wisconsin’s Great River Road, runs down Wisconsin's west coast winding through artistic communities and charming historic villages. The journey is one of the greatest undiscovered drives in the Midwest.

The road with its curves and hills has been preserved to embrace the area’s scenic and historical significance.  Drivers on the Great River Road find a sense of freedom and a unique connection to the wild landscape. Along the road, eagles soar in and out of the trees, and limestone bluffs tower above the road like European castles. The Mighty Mississippi River stretches and winds with you like a friend on your drive, leaving you in awe of its necessity and natural beauty.  New journeyer’s are encouraged and invited to discover the magic.

Abode Gallery will highlight the works of artist Raelee Edgar in an exhibition entitled "The Great River Road".  Raelee is happily painting car memories, in Minnesota where she lives with her husband and two children. In recent years, her work has been exhibited in a number of juried shows and she's completed several commissions. Her artwork is held in both private and corporate collections.  When speaking about her work she states, “Time spent with loved ones and friends can be summoned by a car make or model. I hope my work lets people savor those memories.”

Ronalee’s work will be on view from June 15th- July 31st.  The opening for the Great River Road Exhibition will be June 15th from 4:30pm- 6:30pm. See you at the Opening!
