See these new handcrafted, creative wall vases and shelves…

I fell in love with these new wall vases and wall shelves as soon as I saw them.  They are handcrafted; many have beautiful inlay work; and these are really creative pieces.  They are totally functional, too!

Remember the strum sticks that I introduced a couple of weeks ago?  I took a video of two guests at Abode Gallery trying them for the first time today.  Take a look.

Come and see these new creative wall pieces and try the strum sticks yourself.  You’ll be glad you did.

Take a look at these stunning new pieces….

Jeff Boutin has several new pieces in the gallery.  Take a look at two of them, the bright, sunflower-filled Early Riser and stunning Full of Flowers.

We just received a brand new line of lamps from Barbara Woods in Santa Fe, New Mexico.  The lamps are made of pure silk.  Barbara paints with archival inks and finishes the lamps with handmade ceramic bases.  The lamps come in different sizes and have a character that I have not seen before.

Maria Kowalski has new pieces in the gallery, too.  These smaller scale pieces can be used on a wall or a bookshelf.  They are charming little oils, almost study pieces, including Maiden Rock in winter.

Come and see these new pieces and our other new stuff.  You’ll be glad you did.

Try this beautiful, new piece…

For several years, I have been interested in bringing the strumstick to you.  As music has increasingly become a part of Abode Gallery, I thought that now was a good time to introduce it.  Check out this video on strumstick.

I found strumstick at the Philadelphia American Craft Show.  Handmade from padouk, spruce, and maple, strumstick is beautiful in appearance and sound.  I was drawn in by its elegance.  It is a work of art as well as an instrument.

Having never played before, I discovered the claim that strumstick is an instrument for the musically disinclined to be true.  After receiving the demo models in both the standard G and D grand, I have already learned between three and five songs.  Click here to hear an intermediate person playing strumstick.

These are touch and play instruments.  I invite you to stop by, try the demos, and find out more about strumstick.  You’ll be glad you did.

Bob Schmitt will share his Asian brush painting at this Saturday’s artist talk.

We invite you to meet Bob Schmitt this Saturday at his artist talk at 2:30.  Influenced by the Asian black ink painters, Bob uses very simple materials:  ink, brush, and papers.

You may have seen Asian brush paintings of scenes with beautiful calligraphy.  Bob’s paintings stand out because they are a beautiful style but about local scenes of the North Shore or Lake Pepin.

Bob is well known not only as a painter but also as a teacher which will make his artist talk very interesting.  Bob will be giving a bamboo painting demo and sharing about the ancient art form of Chinese painting.  Stop by, enjoy Bob‘s talk, and see his pieces.  You’ll be glad you did.
